What makes OKAY Therapy different.

At OKAY Therapy, we believe that nurturing even the smallest seeds of progress can lead to transformative growth.

Whatever your needs, we ensure our therapeutic approach is family-centred to position you as the expert and support you in taking steps towards a lifestyle and environment that promotes the unique well-being and quality of life of both your child and family.

We support families with NDIS funding and are registered providers under Medicare. Families can also claim through private health insurance.

Our Story

Our vision has always been to nurture an environment by prioritising purpose over profit and one where genuine, authentic care empowers growth in all aspects of life. We value therapy while also utilising innovative practices to ease the pressure off the child and facilitate family change. This enables us to cultivate communities where society embraces its role in inclusion and where all children and people feel safe, included and valued.

Fast-forward to today and OKAY Therapy has beautifully blossomed into a nurturing space where our passionate clinicians, therapists, and support staff genuinely love uplifting families, educators and employers. Although we have grown since our early days in 2017, our unwavering dedication to putting people and families first remains at our core. I am so proud of our incredible OKAY family and the profound, impactful work we do together every single day.

Frequently Asked
Questions

You can self-refer to join the waitlist for an appointment however if you would like to access a medicare rebate please liaise with your GP or Paediatrician. This can be done once you have started therapy. Please check with your private health insurer if you hope to claim allied health services.
While our waitlist times can vary, our team constantly monitors availability and offers appointments as they become available. Please complete a referral and we will advise service availability tailored to your unique needs.
An intake assessment phone call is a broad initial information gathering with a highly experienced therapy assistant (former speech therapist). The intake assessment ranges from 1 to 3 hours depending on need and is charged at a reasonable $86.79 per hour. The information from the assessment will be summarised and sent to you, with recommendations for service priority. This will ensure that you are added to the most appropriate waitlist for your goals and allow a therapist to hit the ground running. The information can be sent to other providers as needed.
Where suitable, an initial 30-minute phone call will be scheduled to allow you to speak freely about your child’s strengths, needs and goals. The initial appointment will take 60-90 minutes. After the initial assessment and observation have been completed, depending on the person’s needs and goals, we tailor a therapeutic plan that supports those needs.
Therapy sessions are personalised to address the individual’s strengths, interests, goals, and environment. These sessions can focus on various aspects such as body responses and awareness, communication, language development, play development, emotional regulation, sensory processing, social skill development, life skill development, and equipment prescription. Typically, a 60-minute appointment will include a 45-minute face-to-face session, 10 minutes of progress note taking and 5 minutes for thorough cleaning practices.
At OKAY Therapy, our one-to-one services include occupational therapy, speech therapy, play therapy, and social work, with access to therapy assistants. Additionally, we provide interest-based group therapy, online learning, parent support networks, and community partnerships. If you’ve discussed a plan with your GP or specialist and know which service you require, please include this information in your referral. We highly recommend an intake assessment if you’re unsure about the most suitable service.
We believe planning future appointments works best in collaboration with the care team and the therapist. This will enable discussions regarding the length of sessions, regularity of sessions (e.g., monthly/fortnightly/consultation), or the possibility of intensive block sessions (e.g., 1 session per week for 6 weeks). Whatever the plan, we ensure that any funding is used most effectively and that your family does not feel “over-therapised”.

A written report is important to aid in NDIS planning and to offer a comprehensive overview of services provided and we recommend doing this every 12 months or in line with your NDIS plan dates.

If you do not need a report after 12 months, please inform your therapist. An initial report typically requires between 2.5 to 5 hours, depending on the number of assessments completed. Similarly, a progress report typically takes 1.5 to 3 hours, varying based on complexity and the number of assessments conducted. It is important to factor in time for these reports when planning effective use of your therapy funding.

Please note we only write reports for specific purposes and not for the sake of “report writing”, we value your funding too much to spend on unnecessary reports.

Yes, we send reminders that you can opt out of. You will receive a text reminder 48 hours before your session. We ask that you respond to this text to confirm attendance or contact your therapist to reschedule. Please note that cancellations will incur a portion of the therapeutic fee.
Invoices are sent fortnightly from our administrative support lead, Claire. We understand how precious funding is and are always willing to answer any queries about your invoice, including if you’d like more clarity about the breakdown of the services you’ve received. Claire can be contacted through email at claire@okaytherapy.com.au.
We always endeavour to outline pricing in our initial consultation with you so that you can consider all costs when planning your therapy funding. The services we invoice for include; time spent during face-to-face sessions, communication (in writing or via phone) either with yourself or other members of your therapy team (including schools/kindergarten/childcare/day program/workplace), attendance at meetings, and travel to and from the therapeutic destination (home/school/community), equipment applications, and time spent developing resources.
