Funding
No matter if you’re self-funding, using a referral, or unsure where to begin, we are here to support you.
Where to start?
We strive to guide you and your family toward the appropriate next steps to ensure your therapy plan is as sustainable as possible.
We recommend starting with an intake assessment with our experienced therapy assistant to support you as you begin your therapeutic journey.
We do not need a referral to commence services however if you would like to access a medicare rebate please liaise with your GP or Paediatrician. This can be done once you have started therapy.
Please check with your private health insurer if you hope to claim allied health services.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Funding
Medicare Funding
Your family and child may qualify for various rebate options for our services through the following Medicare plans.
This plan is prescribed by a GP or Paediatrician to individuals with a chronic medical condition. The chronic disease management plan provides 5 partially rebated allied health sessions per calendar year.
This plan provides 10 sessions with an Allied Health professional after a diagnosis of Autism or Pervasive Developmental Disorder. If required, the Allied Health professional can request an additional 10 sessions from the referring doctor. You will need to attend a review with this doctor who will determine if your child is eligible for the further 10 sessions. The plan must be put in place by your GP or Paediatrician prior to your child turning 13 years of age with all sessions occurring prior to your child turning 15 years of age. A total of 20 sessions (one time use) until 15 years of age.
This plan is prescribed by a GP or Paediatrician and allows 5 additional individual Allied Health Services per calendar year. It is available for individuals of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent.
Private Health Insurance
Please speak to your private health provider to determine if you are eligible for private health insurance rebates. You will need to present your receipt to your private health fund and they will organise the rebate to your nominated account. Your eligibility for a rebate and amount will depend on your specific health coverage.
Private health rebates do alter and coverage may be different depending on when you purchased your private health insurance. Coverage also has annual limits that you will need to check with your private health fund.
Please note, you are unable to claim both the medicare rebate and private health insurance rebate for the same therapy session.

How could group therapy support you and your family?
How could group therapy support you and your family?
We recognise the power of shared experiences and offer group therapy sessions that foster community and connection. In these supportive and inclusive environments, you can engage with others with similar experiences, share insights, and learn from one another.
We believe therapy and support should be accessible to every family. If individual therapy isn’t a viable option or the right fit, our group therapies provide a welcoming path to explore and understand your authentic self.

Therapy sessions are personalised to address the individual’s strengths, interests, goals, and environment. These sessions can focus on various aspects such as body responses and awareness, communication, language development, play development, emotional regulation, sensory processing, social skill development, life skill development, and equipment prescription.
Typically, a 60-minute appointment will include a 45-minute face-to-face session, 10 minutes of progress note taking and 5 minutes for thorough cleaning practices.
At OKAY Therapy, our one-to-one services include occupational therapy, speech therapy, play therapy, and social work, with access to therapy assistants. Additionally, we provide interest-based group therapy, online learning, parent support networks, and community partnerships.
If you’ve discussed a plan with your GP or specialist and know which service you require, please include this information in your referral. We highly recommend an intake assessment if you’re unsure about the most suitable service.
A written report is important to aid in NDIS planning and to offer a comprehensive overview of services provided and we recommend doing this every 12 months or in line with your NDIS plan dates.
If you do not need a report after 12 months, please inform your therapist. An initial report typically requires between 2.5 to 5 hours, depending on the number of assessments completed. Similarly, a progress report typically takes 1.5 to 3 hours, varying based on complexity and the number of assessments conducted. It is important to factor in time for these reports when planning effective use of your therapy funding.
Please note we only write reports for specific purposes and not for the sake of “report writing”, we value your funding too much to spend on unnecessary reports.
Unfortunately, reports are not medicare rebateable.
We always endeavour to outline pricing in our initial consultation with you so that you can consider all costs when planning your therapy funding.
The services we invoice for include; time spent during face-to-face sessions, communication (in writing or via phone) either with yourself or other members of your therapy team (including schools/kindergarten/childcare/day program/workplace), attendance at meetings, and travel to and from the therapeutic destination (home/school/community), equipment applications, and time spent developing resources.
