Frequently Asked Questions

Any other Questions?

We welcome any and all questions. Our therapists are very approachable and are happy to help you navigate your therapy journey.

Do I get reminders about my sessions?

Yes, if you would like one. You will receive a text reminder 48 hours before your session. We ask that you respond to this text to confirm attendance or contact your therapist to reschedule. Please note that cancellation within 24 hours of the scheduled service or non-attendance without notice will incur the therapeutic fee.

How often are invoices sent?

Invoices are sent by Claire Leeson, Administration Support, each fortnight. It is important to note that the invoices do not itemise time billed, however Claire has access to all therapy notes which will account for any and all invoiced time should you have any questions or concerns. We understand that funding is precious and we therefore welcome any queries that you have in regards to invoicing. We ask that you please raise these with your therapist or with Claire directly via email – claire@okaytherapy.com.au

What services can be invoiced?

Your therapist will need to invoice for time spent during face to face sessions, any communication (in writing or on the phone) with yourself and other members of your therapy team (including schools/kindergarten/childcare/day program/workplace), attendance at meetings, and travel to and from the therapeutic destination (home/school/community), equipment applications, and time spent developing resources. This is something to consider when planning your therapy funding.

How long will my session go for?

An initial discussion with the parent or client typically takes 60-90 minutes to gather sufficient background information. Following this an initial functional assessment of the individual will be completed. After the initial assessments have been completed typically a one-hour window will be scheduled for ongoing sessions which will include a 45-minute face to face session, 10 minutes progress notes and 5 minutes for thorough cleaning practices to keep the germs away. This will enable our team to continue to keep you and your family safe during our sessions.

How often can I expect a written report?

We believe that it is important to have a written update every 12 months to assist with NDIS planning, and to provide an overview of service. If you do not require a report at the end of 12 months please inform your therapist. An initial report typically takes between 2.5 - 5 hours depending on the number of assessments that have been completed. A progress report typically takes approximately 1.5 hours – 3 hours depending on the complexity and number of assessments completed. It is important to allow time for these reports when planning how best to utilise your therapy funding.

How frequently will sessions occur?

We feel that planning therapy works best when a collaborative conversation is held with the care team and the therapist. This will enable discussions regarding length of sessions, regularity of sessions (e.g, monthly/fortnightly), or the possibility of intensive block sessions (e.g, 1 session per week for 6 weeks). When working together we can ensure that the funding is used most effectively.

What can I expect to see in a therapy session?

Therapy sessions are individualised and will consider the client’s strengths, interests, goals and environment. Therapy sessions can target body responses and awareness, communication, language development, play development, emotional regulation, sensory processing, social skill development, life skill development, and equipment prescription. At OKAY Therapy, we currently offer Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology as well as access to a Therapy Assistants and Group Therapy where this is deemed beneficial.
